IPL 2026 – Kohli’s Century Sends RCB to the Summit

Virat Kohli reminded everyone why he remains one of the greatest T20 batters of all time with a masterclass against Kolkata Knight Riders at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. After two disappointing scores in his previous outings, Kohli answered critics in the most emphatic way possible with a magnificent unbeaten century that powered Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a commanding six-wicket victory.

Chasing a challenging target of 193, RCB never appeared under pressure thanks to Kohli’s calm yet aggressive approach. His innings blended elegance with intent, rotating strike smartly before accelerating with trademark cover drives and lofted shots down the ground. The veteran batter controlled the chase from start to finish, ensuring RCB crossed the line with overs to spare.

Earlier, KKR had produced a competitive total led by a composed knock from young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi. However, despite their strong batting effort, their bowling attack struggled to contain Kohli once he settled in. The lack of consistent execution in the death overs eventually cost KKR heavily.

The victory pushed RCB to the top of the IPL 2026 points table and strengthened their position as one of the tournament favourites heading into the final phase of the league stage. More importantly, the innings marked another iconic chapter in Kohli’s IPL legacy, proving once again that class remains permanent.

For KKR, the defeat exposed concerns around their bowling depth and inability to close out high-pressure matches against elite batting line-ups.
