Sri Lanka enjoyed a memorable day in Tashkent after both the men’s and women’s rugby sevens teams captured championship honours at the inaugural Central and South Asia CASA 7s Tournament.
The women’s side produced a commanding display in the final against Kazakhstan, sealing a convincing 27 nil victory to lift the title. From the opening whistle, the Sri Lankan outfit controlled possession, attacked with confidence, and defended with great discipline. Kazakhstan struggled to respond as the Lankan players dominated every area of the field.

Earlier in the day, the Sri Lankan men’s team also delivered an outstanding performance by defeating regional rivals India 31 to 10 in the final.
