As the TATA IPL 2026 season approaches, franchises are making swift adjustments to their squads due to injury setbacks. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) have both confirmed replacements, bringing in experienced domestic pacers to strengthen their bowling units.
KKR have signed right-arm fast bowler Navdeep Saini as a replacement for the injured Harshit Rana. Saini, known for his raw pace and ability to generate bounce, brings valuable experience to the squad. He has featured in 32 IPL matches so far, picking up 23 wickets, and has also represented India on the international stage with 23 wickets across formats. His inclusion adds depth and variety to KKR’s pace attack as they aim to build a competitive edge early in the tournament. Saini joins the franchise for INR 75 lakh.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans have brought in left-arm pacer Kulwant Khejroliya as a replacement for Prithviraj Yarra. Khejroliya, who has previously been part of multiple IPL franchises including GT, KKR, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, offers a different angle with his left-arm seam option. Though his IPL record currently stands at six wickets, his familiarity with franchise cricket and ability to adapt to different conditions make him a useful addition. He has been signed for INR 30 lakh.
Both teams have opted for like-for-like replacements in terms of bowling roles, ensuring minimal disruption to their squad balance. With the IPL being a high-intensity tournament where squad depth often plays a crucial role, these changes could prove significant over the course of the season.
As the competition draws closer, all eyes will be on how these players seize their opportunities and contribute to their teams’ campaigns.
