Rajasthan Royals pulled off a tense and impressive victory, defending a daunting total of 210 against Gujarat Titans in a match that swung dramatically until the final over. Choosing to bat first in a format that often favours chasing, Royals trusted their batting strength and were rewarded for their bold call.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel laid the foundation with fluent half centuries on a pitch that offered true pace and bounce. Jaiswal, in particular, broke conventional batting patterns, confidently stepping forward to short length deliveries and dispatching them for boundaries. Jurel matched the intent, ensuring Royals maintained momentum throughout the innings and reached 210 for 6.
Gujarat Titans looked well on course during the chase. At 127 for 2, with Sai Sudharsan settled and Jos Buttler finding rhythm, the game seemed to be slipping away from Rajasthan. According to win projections, Titans were strong favourites at that stage.
The turning point came with Ravi Bishnoi. The leg spinner delivered a decisive spell removing Sudharsan with a cleverly disguised googly and dismissing Washington Sundar shortly after. His ability to challenge left handers by angling deliveries across them shifted momentum instantly, pushing Rajasthan back into contention.
Despite this setback, Gujarat fought back through Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan. Their late hitting brought the equation down from 50 off 30 to just 15 needed from the final two overs, once again tilting the game in Titans’ favour.
However, Rajasthan’s death bowling proved exceptional. Jofra Archer executed a clear strategy, using short deliveries to restrict Rabada’s power and pinpoint yorkers to silence Rashid. The pressure intensified in the final over, where Tushar Deshpande was tasked with defending 10 runs.
After an early wide, Deshpande showed remarkable composure, delivering four consecutive precise yorkers that denied any boundary opportunities. With the equation at 7 off 2, Rashid attempted to go big but mistimed his shot, and Archer completed a crucial catch.
In a rare finish, no boundaries were scored in the final two overs, highlighting Rajasthan’s exceptional execution under pressure.
