Royals Bounce Back with Disciplined Win Over LSG

The clash between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants may not have delivered a run fest, but it offered a gripping battle filled with momentum swings and disciplined cricket. Defending a modest 159, Rajasthan produced a composed performance to hand Lucknow their fourth straight defeat this season, including a third consecutive loss on home soil.

The foundation of Rajasthan’s total came from Ravindra Jadeja, who anchored the innings with an unbeaten 43 from 29 balls. His late partnership worth 49 runs alongside Shubham Dubey proved decisive, especially after Rajasthan found themselves struggling in the middle overs. Despite entering late as an impact substitute, Dubey added valuable runs that lifted the total beyond what initially looked achievable.

Lucknow’s bowlers had earlier made strong inroads. Mohammed Shami removed key batters in quick succession, while Mohsin Khan delivered a brilliant over that included a crucial wicket. Young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, after a promising start with two boundaries, was eventually undone by pressure and clever variations, triggering a top order collapse.

The middle phase saw resistance from Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag, but both failed to convert their starts. At 77 for 5, Rajasthan were in trouble before Jadeja’s calm approach and late acceleration pushed the innings forward. A final flourish in the closing overs ensured a competitive total.

Lucknow’s chase began on a disastrous note. Jofra Archer struck early with a sharp short delivery that forced an error from Aiden Markram. Alongside him, Nandre Burger dismissed Rishabh Pant, leaving the hosts reeling at 11 for 3. Early damage proved too costly to recover from.

Nicholas Pooran attempted to rebuild and showed glimpses of his ability with a few attacking shots, but Jadeja once again stepped in to break the momentum. His dismissal added further pressure on the already struggling lineup.

Mitchell Marsh stood tall amid the collapse, crafting a steady half century while wickets fell around him. However, with the required rate climbing rapidly, his dismissal in the 16th over effectively ended Lucknow’s hopes.

From there, Rajasthan’s bowlers closed out the game with control. Archer finished with 3 for 20, while support from the rest of the attack ensured victory was sealed comfortably inside 18 overs.

This result pushed Rajasthan up to second place in the standings, ending their brief losing run, while Lucknow remained near the bottom despite having similar points to other teams above them.
