CSK Secure Back-to-Back Wins After Two Years with Dominant 32-Run Victory Over KKR

Chennai Super Kings delivered a complete performance at Chepauk to register their second consecutive win, marking the first time they have achieved this feat since April 2024. The 32-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders lifted them off the bottom of the table and placed them alongside four other teams on four points, while keeping KKR without a win this season.

After being asked to bat in challenging conditions with dew expected later, CSK posted a competitive 192. The foundation was laid early as Sanju Samson and Ayush Mhatre capitalised on the fielding restrictions. Mhatre’s explosive 38 from just 16 balls, including consecutive sixes, set the tempo, while Samson maintained control at the other end. The duo ensured CSK raced to 72 in the powerplay, exactly double KKR’s effort during their chase.

Despite a slowdown through the middle overs, where Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy applied pressure, Dewald Brevis provided a late push. His aggressive strokeplay, particularly a 20-run over late in the innings, helped CSK reach a strong total, although KKR’s bowlers finished well to prevent further damage.

In response, KKR’s chase never truly gained momentum. Anshul Kamboj and Khaleel Ahmed struck early, removing Finn Allen and Narine inside the first six overs. Narine showed brief intent with a couple of boundaries and sixes, but disciplined bowling restricted scoring opportunities.

The turning point came in the middle phase, where CSK’s spinners dominated. Noor Ahmad led the charge with a brilliant spell of 3 for 21, dismissing key players including Ajinkya Rahane, Cameron Green, and Rinku Singh. Akeal Hosein supported well, conceding just 26 runs in his four overs while picking up a wicket.

With the asking rate climbing beyond control, KKR faltered under pressure. By the time the final overs arrived, the contest was effectively decided, with CSK’s bowlers maintaining control to seal a convincing win.

This result highlights CSK’s growing confidence and balance, while KKR face increasing pressure as their winless run continues.
