Titans Dominate as Rabada and Sudharsan Outclass CSK

The Gujarat Titans delivered a commanding performance against the Chennai Super Kings, securing a convincing eight-wicket victory and climbing to fifth in the standings. Chennai, who previously occupied that spot, slipped down after a disappointing outing at home.

The match was largely decided during the opening overs of the first innings. Chennai misjudged the surface conditions, expecting assistance for spin later on. Instead, the pitch offered significant pace and bounce early, which Gujarat’s seamers exploited brilliantly. Kagiso Rabada led the charge with a sharp spell, finishing with impressive figures of 3 for 25. Alongside him, Mohammed Siraj maintained relentless pressure, making scoring extremely difficult.

Chennai’s top order crumbled under this sustained attack. Reduced to 28 for 3 inside the powerplay, they recorded one of the lowest six-over totals of the season. Even the introduction of Sarfaraz Khan as an Impact Player failed to stabilize the innings, as he departed without scoring. The Titans’ pacers controlled proceedings, while their spinners proved relatively expensive, conceding 43 runs in four overs.

Amid the collapse, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad stood firm. His composed knock of 74 formed the backbone of Chennai’s total of 158. However, his innings lacked momentum, consuming 30 dot deliveries and highlighting the pressure exerted by Gujarat’s bowling unit.

In response, Gujarat approached the chase with composure and clarity. Sai Sudharsan once again played a starring role, following up his previous century with a fluent 87 off 46 balls, including seven maximums. His confident stroke play ensured the target was chased down comfortably, with the Titans reaching 100 faster than Chennai had managed their half-century earlier.

Despite a lively crowd of over 31,000 at Chepauk, the home supporters gradually lost hope as the game slipped away. Gujarat’s disciplined bowling and calculated batting proved far superior on the day, underlining their growing momentum in the tournament.
