Leeds Hold Firm Against Palace in Scoreless Stalemate

Leeds United extended their impressive run without defeat in the Premier League, battling to a nil nil result at home against Crystal Palace in a contest that demanded patience from both sets of supporters.

The opening period offered little in terms of genuine goalscoring threats, but the atmosphere shifted dramatically once play resumed. Within moments of the second half beginning, the away side carved out a trio of promising openings. Yeremy Pino curled a dangerous free kick towards the near post, forcing Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford into a sharp reaction save that diverted the ball behind for a corner. From the resulting delivery, Jefferson Lerma rose highest but blazed his header over the crossbar.

Moments later, Daichi Kamada tested Trafford again, sending a shot narrowly off target. Palace briefly celebrated what appeared to be a breakthrough when Tyrick Mitchell converted, but the assistant referee’s flag cut the celebrations short after teammate Anan Khalaili was caught in an offside position during the buildup.

At the other end, Dominic Calvert-Lewin came agonizingly close to marking his recall to the England setup with a goal. His crisp strike from close range was brilliantly repelled by Palace shot stopper Walter Benitez, denying the striker what would have been a memorable moment.

Manager Daniel Farke will take encouragement from another clean sheet. Leeds, who finished fourteenth on their return to the top flight last term, now occupy fifth position after five games, having secured two victories and three draws so far this campaign.
