Bangladesh completed a spirited turnaround in Bulawayo, defeating Zimbabwe in the deciding T20I to seal the series 2 to 1. The triumph marked their first T20I series success of 2026 after they had fallen behind in the opening contest.
The visitors restricted Zimbabwe to a modest total despite Dion Myers producing a timely half century. Myers shared a valuable 71 run partnership with Brian Bennett, but the remaining batters offered little support. Taskin Ahmed led a disciplined bowling display, while Mohammad Saifuddin and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain kept the pressure on during the closing overs.
Zimbabwe appeared well placed at 118 for 3 after 16 overs, yet Bangladesh regained control at the perfect moment. Saifuddin removed Brad Evans and Clive Madande in consecutive deliveries, while Taskin conceded only five runs in the final over. Zimbabwe managed just 25 runs while losing four wickets across the last four overs.
Bangladesh then built their chase around Tanzid Hasan, who continued his excellent form from the ODI series. He handled the early movement from Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani, remained composed during a cautious start, and gradually increased the scoring rate.
Tanzid reached his thirteenth T20I fifty and moved level with Shakib Al Hasan for the second highest number of fifty plus scores for Bangladesh in the format. His partnerships with Parvez Hossain Emon and Towhid Hridoy kept the innings steady.
The final over brought unexpected tension. Mossadek Hossain was bowled, Saifuddin was caught at midwicket, and Zimbabwe briefly sensed a remarkable escape. A disputed dead ball decision then raised tempers before Mehidi Hasan struck the winning boundary with two deliveries remaining.
The result denied Sikandar Raza a celebration in his record 314th international appearance, but Zimbabwe still ended Bangladesh’s tour positively with a Test victory and a 2 to 1 ODI series win.
