Barbados End Skid in Style Behind Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Quinton de Kock

Barbados Tridents finally halted a run of four straight defeats, thrashing St Lucia Kings in Bridgetown thanks largely to a masterclass with the ball from Mujeeb Ur Rahman and a blistering finish from Quinton de Kock. Despite the victory, Tridents stay rooted at the foot of the CPL 2026 standings, though they now sit two games clear of Trinbago Knight Riders, who share the same points tally of six.

Electing to bowl first, Tridents got exactly what they needed from Mujeeb. Introduced with Kings cruising at 51 for 1 after the powerplay, the spinner struck immediately and conceded just seven runs across his opening two overs. His decisive blow came in the 19th over, dismissing both Charith Asalanka and Matthew Forde while leaking only four runs. Alongside Daniel Sams, who claimed 2 for 20, Mujeeb’s three wickets kept Kings pinned to 138 for 6.

A sluggish innings from John Campbell at number three, who managed just 27 deliveries at a sub run a ball pace, denied the Kings any real momentum, even as Kamil Pooran (37 off 24) and Roston Chase (34 off 28) tried to inject some tempo.

Chasing the modest target, Tridents got off to a flying start courtesy of Brandon King (22 off 20) and Zachary Carter (32 off 22), who put on 41 for the opening stand. Two quick wickets fell to the spinners inside three overs, but Rivaldo Clarke and de Kock steadied the innings with an unbeaten partnership of 76 from just 57 balls. Clarke played the supporting role with 36 not out off 34, while de Kock exploded late, smashing three fours and two sixes for an unbeaten 47 off 31, sealing a comfortable win.
