Falcons Topple Unbeaten Warriors to Seize CPL Summit

Guyana Amazon Warriors’ flawless CPL 2026 campaign came crashing down as Antigua and Barbuda Falcons produced a stunning turnaround, powered by Shadab Khan’s blazing cameo and Alzarri Joseph’s incisive bowling. The result pushed the Falcons to 13 points, edging past the Warriors’ 12, though Guyana still holds three matches in reserve.

Having opted to field first, Guyana’s bowling attack looked firmly in control for much of the innings, pinning the Falcons to 122 for 4 after 17 overs, well below the projected total of 151. Karima Gore, Evin Lewis, Amir Jangoo and Hasan Nawaz all reached the twenties but struggled to accelerate past a run a ball.

Everything shifted once the allrounders arrived. Moeen Ali chipped in with 18 off just 12 deliveries, while Fabian Allen stayed unbeaten on 11 from seven balls. But it was Shadab who stole the show, launching an explosive 30 not out from only nine balls, laced with two boundaries and three towering sixes. The final three overs yielded a staggering 60 runs, with Romario Shepherd conceding 41 runs across two overs alone.

Chasing 183, the Warriors made a lightning start as Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mavendra Dindyal added 33 runs inside 14 balls. Alzarri Joseph then flipped the contest, dismissing both openers in the third over. He struck again soon after, removing Dindyal, who top scored with 25 off 13 deliveries.

From there, the innings unravelled quickly. Joshua James, Shadab and Sufyan Moqim claimed two wickets apiece, with Shadab conceding just 19 runs in his four overs, as Guyana were bowled out for 117 in only 14.2 overs.

Alzarri’s brilliant figures of 4 for 41 lifted him to second on the season’s wicket charts with 14 scalps, just one shy of St Lucia Kings’ Matthew Forde.
