Late Tarkowski Strike Denies Bournemouth Victory Against Everton

Marco Rose remains without a Premier League victory as Bournemouth were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Everton following James Tarkowski’s dramatic goal in stoppage time at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries had also lost a winning position against Manchester City in their previous fixture, and another late setback prevented Rose from celebrating his first league success in England.

Alex Scott gave Bournemouth the advantage shortly before the interval, but Everton created enough chances to keep goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic extremely busy throughout the contest.

The visitors almost opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Jarrad Branthwaite met Kiernan Dewsbury Hall’s corner, only for Petrovic to produce an excellent stop.

Bournemouth responded through Rayan, whose effort from a difficult angle was denied by Jordan Pickford.

Petrovic then made an important double intervention after initially failing to hold Tyrique George’s attempt. Thierno Barry looked certain to score from the loose ball, but the goalkeeper recovered quickly to keep Everton out.

The hosts took full advantage in the 41st minute. Evanilson won his battle with Tarkowski before Scott fired a low effort that took a touch off Vitalii Mykolenko on its way into the net.

Barry wasted another promising opportunity before the break and was frustrated again after half time when Petrovic stopped him following Harrison Armstrong’s pass.

At the opposite end, Pickford prevented Rayan from extending Bournemouth’s advantage, while Hayden Hackney and Mykolenko produced crucial defensive interventions.

Bournemouth appeared set to take all three points until the 91st minute. Hackney delivered a corner into a crowded penalty area, the home defence failed to clear the danger and Tarkowski reacted quickest.

The Everton captain struck the loose ball first time with power, sending it beyond Petrovic and earning his side a valuable point while extending Rose’s wait for a Premier League win.
