Leclerc Triumphs at Silverstone as Late Drama Shakes Up British Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc secured a memorable British Grand Prix victory after an eventful afternoon at Silverstone, finishing ahead of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton to record the ninth Formula 1 win of his career.

The Ferrari driver produced an excellent launch and quickly moved into a commanding position alongside teammate Hamilton, with both drivers passing Kimi Antonelli in the opening stages. Antonelli later recovered to move ahead of Hamilton and briefly became a major threat to Leclerc.

Leclerc surrendered first place during his scheduled pit visit, allowing Antonelli to lead and extend his opening stint until Lap 36. The Mercedes youngster then began closing the gap after changing tyres, but his challenge suddenly faded on Lap 41.

Mercedes reported a suspected left front wheel shield failure, forcing Antonelli into two additional stops. He continued racing but fell down the order and also collected a five second penalty for exceeding track limits.

More chaos arrived on Lap 48 when Max Verstappen lost control and ended up in the gravel. The incident brought out the Safety Car and ultimately prevented the race from returning to green flag conditions.

Leclerc therefore led the field across the finish line, while Russell’s decision to remain on circuit during the final Safety Car period promoted him into second place ahead of Hamilton.

Hamilton completed the podium after retaining third despite a post race investigation concerning a yellow flag incident. The stewards issued the seven time World Champion with a reprimand. Lando Norris finished fourth, followed by Isack Hadjar in fifth.

Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad claimed sixth and seventh, while Gabriel Bortoleto earned valuable points for Audi in eighth. Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly completed the top 10.

Verstappen, Alex Albon and Nico Hulkenberg were the three drivers who failed to reach the chequered flag.
