Monaco Belongs to Antonelli as Young Italian Claims Fifth Consecutive Win

Kimi Antonelli’s remarkable Formula One season continued in spectacular fashion as the young Mercedes driver secured victory at the Monaco Grand Prix, further strengthening his position at the top of the championship standings.

The 19 year old Italian delivered a flawless performance around the famous streets of Monte Carlo, controlling the race from the opening lap to the chequered flag despite several interruptions and safety related stoppages. His latest success marked a fifth consecutive victory, matching Lewis Hamilton’s personal best winning streak and underlining the incredible rise of Formula One’s newest superstar.

Antonelli’s latest triumph increased his championship advantage to 66 points over Ferrari veteran Hamilton, who finished in second place. Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar completed the podium in third after overcoming persistent power unit concerns throughout the race.

The Mercedes youngster looked completely comfortable behind the wheel all weekend. Speaking after the race, Antonelli praised the balance and speed of his car, explaining that everything felt natural from the moment he took control of the event. He admitted that the late standing restart added some tension but remained calm and quickly re established his lead once racing resumed.

While many drivers struggled with the constant interruptions, Antonelli showed maturity beyond his years. The pressure of leading both the race and the championship appeared to have little effect on him as he continued his impressive run of results.

Hamilton was among the first to congratulate the young Italian. The seven time world champion acknowledged the strength of Mercedes and praised Antonelli’s consistency throughout the season. Although Ferrari secured another strong result, Hamilton admitted that his team still has work to do before matching the pace currently displayed by Mercedes.

Hadjar’s third place finish was equally impressive. The Red Bull driver spent much of the afternoon managing power related issues yet remained competitive enough to secure a valuable podium finish. He later described the race as one of the toughest of his career.

Behind the leading trio, Oscar Piastri claimed fourth for McLaren, while Racing Bulls drivers Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad produced career best performances with strong points finishes.

The race also featured disappointment for several big names. Max Verstappen retired before completing the opening stages due to engine trouble, while reigning world champion Lando Norris was forced out after suffering battery related issues.

With momentum firmly on his side, Antonelli continues to raise expectations and establish himself as the standout performer of the 2026 Formula One season.
