England secured the Test series against Pakistan with an emphatic 194 run victory at Lord’s, taking an unbeatable 2 0 advantage with one match still remaining.
Ollie Robinson was once again at the centre of England’s success. The fast bowler claimed 4 for 24 in Pakistan’s second innings, completing remarkable match figures of 8 for 35 from 27 overs. Jofra Archer also made an important contribution, finishing with five wickets across the match.
Set a daunting target of 389, Pakistan’s chase quickly ran into trouble. Robinson removed Azan Awais and Abdullah Shafique early before Archer dismissed captain Babar Azam with a fierce 91mph delivery. Pakistan were soon struggling at 14 for 3.
Saud Shakeel provided the only sustained resistance with an impressive 97. He struck 13 fours and two sixes while sharing a valuable 97 run partnership with Shan Masood. Robinson eventually trapped Masood lbw following an England review before removing Mohammad Rizwan in similar fashion.
Shakeel continued to attack despite Pakistan’s worsening position and moved within three runs of a deserved century. However, Josh Tongue ended his innings when the left hander found the fielder at deep square leg. Tongue then quickly removed the remaining batters to complete England’s victory with a full day remaining.
Earlier, Mohammad Abbas enjoyed a memorable personal achievement for Pakistan. The seamer collected 5 for 57 in England’s second innings and finished with nine wickets in the match, earning his first five wicket haul at Lord’s.
England had posted 290 in their opening innings after recovering from 77 for 4, while Pakistan’s batting struggled badly against Robinson and Archer.
The comprehensive result gave England their first Test series triumph since their success in New Zealand in late 2024 and underlined the effectiveness of their pace attack in favourable conditions at Lord’s.
