Tim Seifert produced a superb unbeaten 105 from 61 deliveries as St Lucia Kings defeated Trinbago Knight Riders in Port of Spain and returned to the top of the CPL 2026 standings.
Asked to bat first, Kings posted an imposing 211 for 4, becoming only the second side to pass 200 in the first 17 matches of the season. Seifert set the tone early as Kings raced to 64 for 1 during the powerplay.
Kamil Pooran contributed 25 from 17 balls in a rapid 60 run partnership with Seifert. After Pooran departed, John Campbell kept the momentum going with 27 from 17. Their partnership added 75 from only 38 deliveries.
Sunil Narine eventually removed Campbell to claim his 650th wicket in T20 cricket, leaving him behind only Rashid Khan, who has 736.
Charith Asalanka then joined Seifert and struck 33 from 21 balls during a 51 run stand. Seifert briefly reduced the tempo but accelerated again at the finish, completing his century from 57 deliveries before ending unbeaten on 105.
Trinbago began their reply positively, with Colin Munro and Narine helping them collect 56 during the powerplay. However, Roston Chase dramatically changed the contest in the eighth over.
Chase dismissed Narine, Matthew Breetzke and Nicholas Pooran within three deliveries, turning a promising chase into a difficult recovery mission.
Kieron Pollard refused to surrender quietly. The experienced power hitter blasted 65 from 26 balls, including six fours and five sixes. His counterattack briefly revived Trinbago’s hopes before Matthew Forde removed him with a caught and bowled dismissal.
Knight Riders eventually finished on 175, falling well short of the target.
The victory moved St Lucia Kings back into first place with eight points, while Trinbago Knight Riders slipped to sixth position.
