Shai Hope Century Powers West Indies to Series Decider Against India

West Indies produced an impressive performance in Hyderabad to defeat India and keep their T20I series hopes alive. Captain Shai Hope delivered a magnificent century, while Keemo Paul dominated with the ball to secure a memorable victory.

Hope registered an unbeaten 102 from 50 deliveries, becoming the first Caribbean cricketer to record three centuries in T20 internationals. His remarkable innings, supported by valuable contributions throughout the batting lineup, helped the visitors establish a challenging total.

Jewel Andrew provided early aggression, while Shimron Hetmyer accelerated the scoring during the opening six overs. Despite India’s efforts to regain control through disciplined bowling, West Indies accumulated 62 runs during the final four overs.

India began their pursuit aggressively, with Sanju Samson producing a spectacular 56 from just 23 deliveries. His attacking approach propelled the hosts to 50 without loss after three overs, raising expectations of another successful chase.

However, the Caribbean bowlers responded with impressive discipline. Paul removed Samson following an outstanding boundary catch from Hetmyer, shifting momentum towards the visitors.

Gudakesh Motie strengthened their position by dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Naman Dhir in the same over. India subsequently struggled to maintain the required scoring rate despite resistance from Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

A productive 16th over briefly revived India’s chances, leaving them requiring 59 runs from their remaining four overs. Romario Shepherd then dismissed Tilak, delivering another crucial breakthrough.

Shamar Springer maintained the pressure before Paul collected three wickets during the 19th over, completing his second T20I five wicket haul.

The result marked West Indies’ first successful total defence during the tour and ensured the series would reach a deciding encounter. With Hope leading confidently and their bowling attack finding rhythm, the visitors have established genuine momentum ahead of the finale.
