Stafanie Taylor Makes History as West Indies Complete Series Sweep Against Zimbabwe

West Indies Women completed a convincing series whitewash against Zimbabwe with an eight wicket victory in the final T20I in Harare, inspired by an exceptional performance from experienced all rounder Stafanie Taylor.

The Jamaican cricket star achieved a remarkable personal milestone, becoming the fourth woman in international T20 cricket to accumulate 3,000 runs and claim 100 wickets.

Zimbabwe chose to bat first and registered 142 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Opening batter Kelis Ndhlovu anchored the innings with an impressive 63 from 48 deliveries, including six boundaries and three maximums. Her contribution marked the fifth T20I fifty of her career.

The hosts reached 40 for 1 during the opening six overs before Taylor changed the momentum. She dismissed Chipo Mugeri Tiripano through a stumping to secure her landmark 100th wicket. She later removed Chiedza Dhururu through an lbw decision.

Taylor delivered outstanding bowling figures of 2 for 8 across four overs, while Jahzara Claxton contributed two dismissals for 35 runs.

Zimbabwe added 41 runs during their final four overs, supported by a 40 run partnership between Ndhlovu and Christine Mutasa.

In response, West Indies approached the target confidently. Claxton contributed 38 from 37 balls and shared a valuable 71 run partnership with Taylor for the second wicket.

Taylor dominated the Zimbabwean bowling attack, remaining unbeaten on 64 from 39 deliveries, featuring 11 boundaries.

The visitors reached their target with 18 deliveries remaining and eight wickets intact.

West Indies demonstrated greater control during overs seven to sixteen, accumulating 85 runs while losing just one wicket. Zimbabwe managed 61 runs for three dismissals during the corresponding period.

Taylor’s exceptional contribution with both bat and ball ultimately secured a memorable series triumph for the Caribbean side.
