Tridents Demolish Amazon Warriors, Book Eliminator Date with Kingsmen

Barbados Tridents produced a ruthless bowling display to dismantle Guyana Amazon Warriors for a paltry 99, then strolled to victory inside fifteen overs, losing only four wickets along the way. The win confirmed their place in the Eliminator against Jamaica Kingsmen.

Despite the defeat, Amazon Warriors held on to the top spot on the standings, ahead of Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, with Tridents and Kingsmen rounding out the four playoff teams. Guyana will now meet Falcons in Qualifier 1, and both fixtures, along with the rest of the postseason, will unfold in Bridgetown.

The turning point came almost instantly after Tridents chose to bowl first. Spinner AM Ghazanfar, who later claimed the Player of the Match award, wrecked the top order inside a single over, removing Mavendra Dindyal stumped, followed by Shai Hope caught off a poor stroke and Shimron Hetmyer edging behind. By the end of the over, Guyana had slumped to fifteen for three, and things barely improved from there, with the powerplay closing at thirty for three.

Glenn Phillips fought on longer than anyone else, compiling twenty four runs off twenty three deliveries before falling to George Linde, whose economical four over spell yielded two for thirteen. His score proved to be the innings’ highest. Pace bowler Johann Layne chipped in with three for fourteen as the hosts folded in just over eighteen overs.

Chasing such a modest total posed little trouble for the Tridents batting lineup. Brandon King anchored the pursuit with an unbeaten forty four off forty two balls, forming a useful stand of forty one runs alongside Shadrack Descarte, who contributed thirty two before departing. Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up wickets for Guyana, taking his tally to nine across three matches, but King and Kevlon Anderson calmly guided their side home.
