Warriors Make It Three From Three With Seven Wicket Win

Guyana Amazon Warriors maintained their flawless start to CPL 2026 with a commanding seven wicket victory over Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on Sunday, recording their third success in as many matches.

The defending champions were put in control by a superb collective bowling display led by Khary Pierre, Imran Tahir and Shamar Joseph, who combined for seven dismissals.

After winning the toss, Warriors captain Tahir elected to bowl first. Pierre immediately justified that decision by removing Rahkeem Cornwall and Karima Gore during the opening six overs, although Falcons still reached 49 for 2 at the end of the powerplay.

Their innings quickly lost momentum from there. Tahir dismissed Hasan Nawaz before Glenn Phillips accounted for Amir Jangoo, who provided the strongest resistance with 37 from 29 deliveries.

Kusal Perera was then caught short of his crease following a mix up, while the Warriors attack continued applying pressure. Shamar removed Joshua James and later cleaned up the tail, with Romario Shepherd also getting rid of Moeen Ali.

Falcons were eventually restricted to 116, leaving the champions with a modest chase.

Warriors briefly stumbled to 16 for 2 in the third over, but Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope completely changed the contest. The pair added 99 for the third wicket from only 42 deliveries and effectively ended Falcons’ hopes.

Hetmyer produced an explosive 49 from 19 balls, striking one four and six sixes. Hope remained unbeaten on 47 from 26 deliveries, including two fours and four maximums.

After Hetmyer departed with only two needed, Quentin Sampson arrived and immediately launched Shamar Springer straight down the ground for six to complete the victory.

The result moves Guyana Amazon Warriors to the summit with three victories from three matches. Falcons remain third with three wins from six outings, while St Lucia Kings occupy second place.
