Jaffna Kings strengthened their Lanka Premier League 2026 campaign with a composed 19 run victory over Colombo Kaps in Match 15 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on 28 July.
Sent in to bat, Jaffna built an imposing total of 202 for 5 from their 20 overs. Ibrahim Zadran was the central figure, producing a superb innings at number three after a quiet period with the bat. The Afghanistan international struck 95 from 65 balls, combining controlled stroke play with timely aggression. His knock featured 12 fours and three sixes, giving the Kings a solid platform throughout the innings.
Kamil Mishara helped establish early momentum with an energetic 44 at the top of the order. Towhid Hridoy then contributed an important 31 during the middle phase, allowing Jaffna to maintain their scoring rate and move beyond 200.
Colombo required 203 to win, but their chase lacked the sustained partnerships needed to threaten the target. Sadeera Samarawickrama offered resistance with 44 from 36 deliveries. His effort included four fours and two sixes, yet the Kaps were unable to build enough pressure on the fielding side.
Dilshan Madushanka delivered the decisive bowling performance for Jaffna. The left arm seamer returned figures of 3 for 30, his finest spell of the 2026 tournament, and regularly interrupted Colombo’s progress. The rest of the attack supported him effectively by maintaining disciplined lines and limiting scoring opportunities.
Colombo eventually closed on 183 for 9 after 20 overs, falling 19 runs short. The result gave Jaffna Kings their fourth victory of the competition and underlined their growing balance across both departments. Zadran’s commanding batting display and Madushanka’s sharp spell proved the defining contributions in a convincing team success. It was a confident showing that should boost Jaffna’s belief as the league moves into its crucial next stage.
