GT Recover After Early Trouble
The Gujarat Titans produced a complete team performance to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs and climb to the top of the IPL points table with 16 points. On a difficult Ahmedabad surface that offered movement and uneven bounce throughout the contest, Gujarat handled the conditions far better than their opponents.
After being asked to bat first, GT struggled early against disciplined pace bowling from SRH captain Pat Cummins and Praful Hinge. The new ball caused major problems as the pitch slowed down and deliveries moved in both directions.
Captain Shubman Gill departed cheaply after mistiming an attacking stroke, while Jos Buttler also failed to settle at the crease. Gujarat were left reeling at 34 for 2 inside the powerplay, their lowest score in that phase this season.
Sai Sudharsan Anchors the Fightback
With wickets falling around him, B Sai Sudharsan once again showed his calm temperament. The left hander carefully rotated strike, punished loose deliveries and built the innings smartly on a pitch where timing the ball was extremely challenging.
Sai Sudharsan scored a composed 61 from 44 balls and registered his sixth half century of the season. Nishant Sindhu added useful support with a quick 22 from 14 deliveries before falling to Cummins.
The late acceleration came from Washington Sundar, whose aggressive 50 off just 33 balls lifted Gujarat to a competitive 168. Sundar attacked the short boundaries brilliantly in the closing overs, especially against Eshan Malinga, who endured an expensive outing and conceded 46 runs.
Rabada and Holder Destroy SRH
If Gujarat’s batting recovery gave them hope, their pace attack completely crushed Hyderabad’s chase.
Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj produced a fiery opening spell that ripped through SRH’s top order. Within the first 19 balls, dangerous batters Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan had already returned to the pavilion.
Rabada bowled with excellent pace and control, finishing with impressive figures of 3 for 28. Siraj maintained pressure from the opposite end as Hyderabad collapsed under relentless fast bowling.
Gujarat Seal Their Biggest IPL Win
The middle order never recovered as Jason Holder and Prasidh Krishna cleaned up the remaining wickets. Holder mixed slower deliveries cleverly on the worn surface and claimed 3 for 20, including the crucial wicket of Heinrich Klaasen.
Prasidh added further damage with his steep bounce and finished with 2 for 23. SRH were eventually bundled out for only 86 in 14.5 overs.
After back to back dominant victories, Gujarat Titans now look like the strongest side in the tournament and firmly established themselves as serious title contenders this season.
