Allen Leads KKR Run Fest as Gujarat Titans Fall Short at Eden Gardens

Kolkata Knight Riders produced one of their finest batting displays of the season to overpower Gujarat Titans and keep their playoff ambitions alive with a commanding victory at Eden Gardens. KKR piled up a massive 247 for 2, the highest score ever recorded against Gujarat in IPL history, before restricting the visitors despite a spirited chase.

The evening belonged to Finn Allen, whose breathtaking innings changed the tone of the contest within minutes. The aggressive opener hammered 93 from only 35 deliveries and cleared the ropes ten times in a sensational display of power hitting. Gujarat were handed opportunities to stop him early, but dropped catches proved costly as Allen punished every mistake.

KKR did not have the smoothest beginning after being sent in to bat. Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada extracted movement from the surface during the opening overs, keeping the scoring under control initially. However, once Allen settled, the momentum shifted dramatically. His clean striking completely transformed the innings and put Gujarat’s bowlers under severe pressure.

After Allen fell seven runs short of a century, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green ensured the assault never slowed down. Raghuvanshi played an elegant unbeaten knock, accelerating brilliantly in the final overs. He reached his fifty from 33 balls before smashing 29 runs from his final 11 deliveries. Green complemented him perfectly with a fluent unbeaten half century of his own as the pair stitched together an unbroken 108 run partnership from just 53 balls.

Gujarat’s fielding only added to their misery. More dropped chances allowed both batters to continue attacking freely, while the final overs saw boundaries flowing all around the ground. Rashid Khan, Siraj and Rabada all endured difficult outings on a night dominated by KKR’s batters.

Chasing 248 was always going to demand something extraordinary. Gujarat began aggressively, racing to 42 without loss in three overs, but the game changed when B Sai Sudharsan retired hurt after suffering a blow to the elbow. Although Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler added a solid 128 run partnership, the asking rate kept climbing beyond reach.

Sunil Narine once again delivered with the ball for KKR. Playing his 200th IPL match, the veteran spinner controlled the middle overs brilliantly and removed key wickets at important stages. His dismissal of Gill in the 17th over effectively ended Gujarat’s hopes.

By the end, KKR had sealed a massive victory that keeps their season alive while Gujarat Titans were left to reflect on missed chances in both batting and fielding departments.
