Home Ground Edge or Championship Experience: GT and RCB Ready for IPL 2026 Final

The IPL 2026 final promises a fascinating contest as Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru prepare to battle for the trophy in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

While Gujarat will enjoy the comfort of playing in familiar surroundings, their preparations have not been entirely smooth. Adverse weather conditions in Chandigarh delayed their travel plans, leaving them with limited time at the venue before the biggest match of the season.

Despite that setback, Gujarat enter the final with confidence. Their record at the Narendra Modi Stadium has been outstanding, and they will hope local conditions can provide a crucial advantage against a powerful Bengaluru outfit.

RCB, however, arrive carrying the momentum of champions. Their batting unit has been one of the most destructive in the competition, producing remarkable performances throughout the tournament. The team demonstrated its firepower in the playoffs by registering the highest total ever recorded in that stage of the IPL.

There is also recent history between these sides. Earlier in the season, Gujarat comfortably defeated Bengaluru in Ahmedabad, dismissing them for just 155 runs. In addition, Bengaluru have managed only three victories from seven matches played away from home or at neutral venues during the campaign.

For Gujarat, much of the success has been built around the exceptional pace bowling partnership of Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj. The duo have consistently attacked opposition batters during the powerplay and have shown an impressive ability to exploit weaknesses early in an innings.

Their aggressive approach has helped Gujarat achieve the best bowling strike rate in the tournament at 16, while maintaining an economy rate of 9.49. Those numbers become even more impressive in Ahmedabad, where the strike rate improves to 13.5 and the economy drops to 8.72.

Having reached their third final in five seasons, Gujarat are within touching distance of a second IPL crown. Standing in their way is an RCB side chasing consecutive titles and determined to continue a remarkable winning run.

The stage is set for an unforgettable finale.
