PBKS Smash Records as Arya and Connolly Dominate in Massive Win Over LSG

Punjab Kings delivered a commanding performance to maintain their perfect run in IPL 2026, overpowering Lucknow Super Giants with a convincing 54-run victory in New Chandigarh. Asked to set a target for the first time this season, PBKS rose to the occasion with a stunning total of 254, now the highest score of the tournament, surpassing the previous benchmark of 249.

The innings was driven by an explosive partnership between Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly, who dismantled the opposition bowling with fearless stroke play. Despite an early setback when Prabhsimran Singh departed without scoring, PBKS quickly shifted gears. Arya took charge early, attacking aggressively and racing to a rapid half-century in just 19 deliveries. His dominance against short-pitched bowling, especially on the leg side, highlighted his sharp reading of length and intent.

Connolly initially took time to settle but soon matched Arya’s intensity. After a steady start, he unleashed a series of powerful shots, particularly targeting pace and spin alike. His confidence was evident as he played inventive strokes, including a daring scoop and consecutive maximums off Aiden Markram, whose over proved expensive.

At one stage, PBKS looked set for an even bigger score, but Lucknow briefly regained control through Prince Yadav, who stood out with disciplined bowling and two key wickets. Arya and Connolly both fell in quick succession, halting momentum momentarily. However, a late surge led by Marcus Stoinis ensured Punjab crossed the 250 mark, finishing with a remarkable tally that included 21 sixes.

Chasing such a daunting target, Lucknow never truly looked in contention. Their start lacked urgency, and although they managed a decent powerplay score, the required rate kept climbing. Ayush Badoni showed some resistance, while Rishabh Pant struck a couple of early boundaries, but tight bowling from Vyshak Vijaykumar and Yuzvendra Chahal kept things under control.

Wickets fell at regular intervals, including key dismissals of Marsh, Pant, and Pooran, leaving Lucknow struggling at 128 for 4 midway through the chase. A few late hits from Aiden Markram only reduced the margin of defeat.

With this emphatic win, Punjab Kings strengthen their position as one of the top contenders this season, while Lucknow’s campaign continues to slide after a third consecutive loss.
