The Detroit Pistons continued their remarkable playoff surge with a commanding 107-97 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Detroit now holds a stunning 2-0 series lead as the action shifts to Cleveland.
Cade Cunningham once again proved why he is becoming one of the league’s brightest postseason stars. The young guard delivered 25 points and 10 assists while controlling the tempo throughout the night. Veteran forward Tobias Harris added 21 crucial points, while Duncan Robinson knocked down timely three pointers to keep the Cavaliers chasing the game.
Cleveland entered the matchup desperate to level the series, but Detroit’s aggressive defense and relentless energy caused problems from the opening quarter. The Pistons built an early double digit lead and never truly allowed the Cavaliers to settle offensively.
Donovan Mitchell fought hard with 31 points for Cleveland, while Jarrett Allen bounced back with 22 points and seven rebounds. However, the Cavaliers struggled badly from long range, especially in the final period, finishing just 7 for 32 from beyond the arc.
Much of the pressure also fell on James Harden, who endured a frustrating night. Harden managed only 10 points and committed costly turnovers during Cleveland’s late comeback attempt.
Detroit’s confidence has grown enormously throughout the postseason. After surviving a difficult first round series, the Pistons now look fearless against one of the East’s strongest teams. Their physical defense, fast transitions, and fearless shot making have completely disrupted Cleveland’s rhythm.
The Cavaliers now face a massive challenge heading home for Game 3. Falling behind 3-0 would almost certainly end their championship hopes, meaning the pressure is firmly on Mitchell and company to respond immediately.
For Detroit, however, belief continues to grow that this young squad may be capable of a deep and unforgettable playoff run.
