Barcelona continued their outstanding opening to the 2026/27 La Liga campaign with an impressive 3-0 triumph against Getafe at Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday. The Catalan giants delivered another convincing performance, collecting their eighth successive league victory.
Hansi Flick’s players wasted little time establishing control. Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in the second minute when his attacking effort took a deflection off Mario Martín and found the net. It was the English winger’s first goal for Barcelona, providing an ideal beginning for the hosts.
Getafe struggled to establish any meaningful attacking rhythm as Barcelona dominated possession and dictated the pace of proceedings.
The advantage increased in the 30th minute when Gabriel Jesus capitalised on a defensive mistake by Zaid Romero. Making his first start for the club, the Brazilian forward demonstrated impressive composure to beat goalkeeper David Soria and strengthen Barcelona’s commanding position.
Following the interval, Getafe briefly attempted to respond, but their attacking efforts failed to seriously trouble the home defence.
Barcelona continued creating opportunities through their technically gifted midfield and energetic attacking players. Their superiority produced another breakthrough in the 73rd minute when defender Jules Koundé converted a delivery from Lamine Yamal, completing the scoring.
The result carried considerable significance for Flick’s squad. Eight victories from their opening eight league fixtures equalled Barcelona’s best start to a domestic campaign, previously achieved during the 2013/14 season.
With 24 points secured, Barcelona retained their five point advantage over Atletico Madrid at the summit.
For Getafe, the defeat highlighted the difficulties of facing a side currently operating with remarkable confidence, precision and consistency.
Barcelona will now aim to extend their winning sequence as the Spanish title race develops.
