Australia Women completed an emphatic 3-0 ODI series victory over Bangladesh, with Megan Schutt delivering an exceptional bowling performance before Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland guided the hosts to an effortless chase.
After choosing to field, Australia immediately placed Bangladesh under pressure through Schutt’s outstanding control and movement. The experienced seamer removed three batters during the opening powerplay, leaving the visitors struggling at 18 for 3 after nine overs.
Schutt maintained her accuracy throughout her uninterrupted ten over spell, finishing with remarkable figures of 4 for 16, including five maiden overs. Kim Garth provided excellent support, troubling the opposition despite finishing without a wicket.
Bangladesh gradually recovered through Sharmin Akhter and Shorna Akter, who constructed a patient 54 run partnership for the fifth wicket. Sharmin contributed 50 before falling to Perry, while Shorna added a determined 54 to help Bangladesh reach 172.
Australia’s pursuit initially encountered resistance when Georgia Voll departed for 11 and Beth Mooney followed for 21, leaving the hosts at 38 for 2.
However, Perry and Sutherland quickly transformed the contest with aggressive strokeplay and intelligent batting. Their partnership dismantled Bangladesh’s bowling attack, pushing Australia to 140 for 2 after 20 overs.
Sutherland remained unbeaten on 74, striking 12 boundaries, while Perry finished with an impressive 65 not out, featuring eight fours.
Australia reached their target within 23 overs, securing an eight wicket victory and completing a convincing series sweep.
The result highlighted Australia’s remarkable depth across both departments, while Bangladesh gained valuable international experience despite their disappointing results.
Schutt’s devastating opening spell ultimately proved decisive, ensuring Australia finished the ODI series with three commanding victories.
