Maaz Sadaqat announced himself on the big stage with a breathtaking maiden T20 hundred, propelling Jamaica Kingsmen into Qualifier 2 of CPL 2026 at the expense of Barbados Tridents in Bridgetown. Chasing a target of 145, the left handed Pakistani opener blitzed his way to 112 off just 49 deliveries, packed with nine boundaries and eight towering sixes, guiding his side home with nine wickets and 35 balls to spare.
The knock began dramatically when Sadaqat took a painful blow to the hand from a Daniel Sams bouncer in the opening over, yet he barely paused. He reached his half century off 22 deliveries as Jamaica raced to 79 without loss inside the powerplay. A vital let off arrived when he was on 16, put down by substitute wicketkeeper Rivaldo Clarke, a mistake Tridents would rue for the rest of the evening.
His most destructive passage came in the fifth over, where he dispatched AM Ghazanfar for three consecutive maximums. He eventually brought up his century in 44 balls before falling to a return catch off Sams during the 14th over, though victory was already just seven runs away. Kirk McKenzie played the supporting role, finishing unbeaten on 22 from 34 balls.
Earlier, Tridents had stumbled to 30 for 5 within seven overs, their innings on the brink of collapse. A rescue act followed courtesy of Quinton de Kock, who struck 71 off 49 balls, and Chris Green, who batted at number seven for an unbeaten 57 from 44 deliveries. Their partnership lifted the total to a respectable 144 for 6, but it fell well short against Sadaqat’s onslaught.
For Jamaica, Hassan Khan, Saim Ayub and Hunain Shah picked up a wicket apiece, while Andre Russell claimed two.
