Brentford End Winless Run as Igor Thiago Seals Victory Over Nottingham Forest

Brentford returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a valuable 2 0 victory over Nottingham Forest, thanks to an unfortunate own goal from Nikola Milenkovic and a decisive finish from Igor Thiago.

The result brought relief to the home supporters after five matches without a victory, while Forest’s disappointing campaign continued as they remained 19th in the standings.

The opening stages featured limited attacking opportunities, with both teams struggling to create meaningful chances. However, Brentford gained an advantage in the 30th minute through an impressive individual effort from Dango Ouattara.

The Burkina Faso winger demonstrated excellent footwork to escape Murillo’s challenge before delivering a dangerous pass across the penalty area. Milenkovic attempted to intercept the delivery but accidentally redirected it beyond goalkeeper Matz Sels.

Brentford nearly doubled their advantage before the interval when captain Mathias Jensen struck the crossbar with a beautifully executed free kick.

Despite producing more attempts throughout the contest, Nottingham Forest lacked accuracy in the attacking third. Their clearest opportunity arrived shortly after the restart when substitute Ryan Yates failed to direct his close range header towards goal.

The hosts eventually secured the outcome in the 76th minute following a swift attacking move. Substitute Jaidon Anthony initiated a rapid counterattack and supplied Thiago, whose effort found its way past Sels.

The Brazilian striker’s contribution marked his second goal in three days following his Carabao Cup success against Sunderland. It was also his second league goal this season and fourth across all competitions.

Brentford’s disciplined display earned them three important points, while Forest departed with growing concerns about their position near the bottom of the Premier League table.
