LASK continued their remarkable turnaround in the UEFA Champions League with an emphatic 4 to 0 victory over Slovan Bratislava in Linz. The Austrian champions produced an outstanding attacking performance to register their second consecutive success in Europe’s premier club competition.
After experiencing a difficult beginning to their debut campaign, LASK demonstrated renewed confidence and determination against opponents who have struggled throughout the tournament.
Kasper Jorgensen emerged as the standout performer, opening the scoring in the 19th minute with a powerful header following a well delivered corner. The wing back extended his team’s advantage in the 37th minute, expertly directing a free kick into the lower corner.
The Austrian outfit maintained their attacking momentum and added another goal shortly before the interval. Robert Ljubicic reacted quickest inside the penalty area, converting from close range after the visitors failed to clear another corner.
LASK continued their dominance after the restart, with captain Sascha Horvath creating an opportunity for Samuel Adeniran. The American forward surged into space along the left before unleashing an impressive finish into the upper section of the net from a challenging angle.
The convincing result represented another significant achievement for the Austrian side, who had previously suffered two defeats, including a heavy 6 to 0 loss against Liverpool.
However, their memorable triumph over Sporting and latest commanding performance have transformed their European prospects. LASK can now realistically target a place among the leading 24 teams and qualification for the knockout playoffs.
Meanwhile, Slovan Bratislava’s disappointing campaign continued under manager Yaya Toure. The Slovakian club remain at the bottom of the standings, having lost all four encounters while conceding 17 goals.
For LASK, this comprehensive victory provides valuable momentum as they pursue further progress in the competition.
