Slovakia produced an impressive attacking display to defeat Moldova 4 to 0 in their UEFA Nations League encounter in Chisinau on Tuesday.
The visitors wasted little time establishing control, with David Strelec finding the net after only eight minutes. Milan Skriniar provided the assist as Slovakia gained an early advantage and immediately placed the hosts under pressure.
Moldova attempted to respond and created opportunities of their own, but Slovakia remained composed defensively. Just before the interval, Tomas Suslov doubled the advantage in the 44th minute, sending his team into the dressing room with a comfortable 2 to 0 lead.
Slovakia continued their efficient approach after the restart. Defender David Hancko added the third goal on the hour mark following an assist from Lukas Haraslin. The strike effectively ended Moldova’s hopes of mounting a comeback.
Haraslin then moved from provider to scorer in the 75th minute. Substitute Leo Sauer supplied the final pass before Haraslin completed the scoring to make it 4 to 0.
Despite the wide margin, Moldova were not completely without attacking opportunities. They registered five attempts on target, but Slovakia goalkeeper Dominik Greif kept a clean sheet. Slovakia recorded six efforts on target and converted four of them, highlighting their effectiveness in front of goal.
The result continued Slovakia’s strong Nations League campaign. They had already beaten Moldova 2 to 0 in September, meaning they completed two victories over the same opponent without conceding. Slovakia have now collected three wins and one draw from their opening four League C Group 3 fixtures.
For Moldova, attention now turns to their November fixtures as they seek to recover from a difficult evening at home.
